Climate in Barcelona


The city of Barcelona, as a Mediterranean sea port, has a rather pleasant climate in early spring.

According to data from the last thirty years, maximum daily temperatures in April are about 20º Celsius and minimum temperatures in April are about 12º Celsius. In early spring it is usual to have about 6 rainy days per month, with a monthly precipitation average about 35 mm.

Have in mind these are historic indicative data. As in many places of the planet, climate in Barcelona has become during 21st century more unpredictable and more volatile than a few decades ago.


How to reach the city of Barcelona


Barcelona’s airport (Josep Tarradellas El Prat) has direct connection flights with many cities in European and Mediterranean countries, and also direct intercontinental flights with some major cities in America, Africa and Asia.

From the airport you have 3 main options to reach Barcelona city and your hotel:
  • Train + Underground. At the RENFE railway station, take the train to RENFE Sants-Estació. Once there take the Underground.
  • Bus + Underground. Outside the airport terminal, take the AEROBUS to Plaça Catalunya. Once there take the Underground.
  • Taxi
  • Also you may reach Barcelona by train from continental Europe, being RENFE Sants-Estació the main railway station.

    Requirements for traveling to Spain


    Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain, and capital of Catalonia’s autonomous region. Spain as a country is a member of the European Union, and part of the Schengen zone.

    In broad terms, as bureaucratic requirements you may need the following:

  • In case you are a citizen of a European Union country and/or a country part of the Schengen zone, either your international passport, or your national passport or identity card will be required.
  • For other countries (including a number of countries in America and Asia-Pacific, and some European countries not part of Schengen zone) your international passport is required, with no Visa requirements.
  • And for other countries your international passport and Visa are both required.
  • Also have in mind Spanish border authorities may apply requirements related to health COVID-19 issues and related to security in broad terms.

    In case you suffered some trouble or incident due to delinquency/security issues, you may ask for help from the Catalan police: Mossos d’Esquadra (their website includes safety advices). Remember the official languages in the Barcelona region are Catalan and Spanish. Staff of emergency services, health services and police may usually be able to communicate with you also in English.
